Iga Swiatek’s Partner Makes Saddening Career Update After Stirring Controversy at Paris Olympics
Hubert Hurkacz is trying hard to get back on his feet, proving that every setback is just a setup for a comeback. Despite a challenging Wimbledon, the 27-year-old tennis star’s recent news has stirred concern among fans, highlighting his withdrawal from the Paris Olympics, which has left many unsettled and eager for more details on what’s next for Hurkacz.
The news that Iga Swiatek’s possible mixed doubles partner will not be competing in Paris in 2024 has dealt a serious blow to her chances of winning an Olympic medal. The ATP world No. 7’s participation was already in question following a knee injury sustained at Wimbledon earlier this month.
Hurkacz suffered the injury while diving for a volley during his second-round match against Arthur Fils and was forced to retire shortly after, further exacerbating his condition with another attempted volley. Talking about what comes next, the ATP tennis player, in an interview with Eurosport, opened up about his rehabilitation, and whether he will be seen playing in other tennis events post-Paris Olympics.
Hurkacz stated. “The rehabilitation is really going very, very well and I’m constantly moving forward, developing, but we made a decision with the team that I’m not able to play in the Olympic Games in Paris. It was a very, very difficult decision because I dreamed of representing Poland at the Games and being able to win a medal for the team, but unfortunately, my health won’t allow me to do that this year.”
