Eagles star Jason Kelce Reveals how he met wife on Tinder, was drunk on first date: ‘It was love at first sight’
A love story’s beginning isn’t always charming. For some, like Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, it may start quite the opposite. Thankfully for all of us, Kelce’s wife Kylie was able to put Jason’s first impression behind her and see the good in who would eventually become her husband.
The couple recounted the relationship’s hilarious early moments on the “New Heights” podcast, which is hosted by brothers Jason and Travis. It all began on Tinder and led to a date that lasted … well, not long at all. “It was pretty evident (there was compatibility) when the first time — well I shouldn’t say the first time — the second time we hung out. He fell asleep 45 minutes after I got there on the bar table because he was too drunk,” Kylie said.
A friend had to “fireman” carry Jason to his apartment. “I definitely fell asleep, got a little too inebriated,” said Jason, who wore plaid on the first date. “But I was sober enough to know it was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life. It was love at first sight. Let me tell you.
It was like fireworks exploded at the door, the moment you walked through the door at Buffalo Billiards. It was like you know in a movie when an angel walks through doors, and there’s only one light on the person. It was like I was in a movie for a split second.” Kylie, often cringing at her husband’s narration, said Jason had a full beard and a man bun when they met. She explained what initially caught her eye.
“His profile at the time was — something to the effect of, ‘I want to have deep meaningful conversations and talk about getting married and having kids,’” Kylie said. “Joke’s on him — who got the last laugh?” The couple who got married in 2018 now has three children, and Kelce a Super Bowl winner and six-time Pro Bowler, has constructed a career that could put him in the Hall of Fame.
But it wasn’t the football that enticed Kylie. She explained that there was really no evidence on his Tinder profile that he played for the Eagles; one photo used was zoomed in so you couldn’t surmise anything from the surroundings. “Second date went much better — I didn’t black out or fall asleep,” Kelce said.
