Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) publicly available in June, pleading with him to support the federal Equality Act, which would alter the Civil Rights Act to forbid discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The letter also denounced Trump for not supporting the legislation.
