“I Was The First One” – Paige Spiranac “Flattered” By All Of The Copy Cat Golf Influencers
The world is always in need of trendsetters, and Paige Spiranac is certainly one of that blazed her own trail.
Sone people might be confused as to what exactly Spiranac does, though the easiest way to describe her profession is “golf influencer.” The influencing field has really boomed in the past decade, and I’m not really sure how it works, but it does.
To her credit, Spiranac was a D-1 college player, a former golf pro, a model, and turned that early on into the influencing gig. She was really the first to have her content hone in on the game of golf. Her success has obviously opened an avenue for many like her to follow along. There are dozens of copy cat golf influencers out there, and it’s not uncommon to stumble across a sports influencer who is labeled the “Paige Spiranac of…. insert sport or hobby.”
And Spiranac told the U.S. Sun that sees that as a good thing:
“It’s unbelievably flattering that everyone sees the path that I have taken and have been really successful doing so, and they want to do the same thing. When I first started doing this, I was the first one and there was no path, and so I just had to figure it out. My ultimate goal with all of this was to make golf more welcoming and to have more women in the game.”
I’m sure she’s brought a lot of women into the game, but something tells me that she’s gotten just as many men interested in golf. Not sure why that’s the case… I just can’t quite put my finger on it (let’s be honest, she’d wipe the floor with most of us weekend warriors).
Spiranac says that having others in the same “influencing field” could be viewed as a bad thing, yet she only views it all in a positive light:
