Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek Part of Whopping $850 Million History for American Tournament as Record-Breaking Figures Disclosed
Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek have turned the generation tables in the tennis world! The young stars have not only captivated audiences with their dynamic playstyles and relentless determination, but they have also etched their names in the history books of the American Tournament. Not only Grand Slams, but they have also won $850 million worth of a tennis event.
Earlier this year, the players achieved amazing feats respectively, at the same event. The Coachella Valley area economy was expected to have benefited more than $852 million from the 2024 BNP Paribas Open, a combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event that took place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in March.
On the other hand, compared to the last economic impact analysis carried out after the 2022 BNP Paribas Open, which found a total gross economic impact of $565 million, this indicates a 51 percent rise. They not only maintained this in 2024 but also in 2022 and 2023, winning two major titles for Alcaraz and three for Swiatek, respectively, solidifying their place among the best players in the world.
Their aggressive, free-swinging playstyles appear destined for double-digit Grand Slam totals. Furthermore, over the course of the two-week competition earlier this year, 493,440 spectators attended, setting a new attendance record for the event. Each participant stayed at the competition for an average of 3.18 days.
Remarkably, 145,860 out-of-town spectators (or 94% of all unique viewers) came from outside the area; this number is used to calculate the economic impact. Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz cemented their positions as top athletes in the sport when they won at Tennis Paradise earlier this year, with each player finishing as the final superstar standing in their respective draws.
In addition, both of them, maintained their apex after winning the BNP Paribas Open, winning the French Open hands down.
