Novak Djokovic continues his relentless pursuit of a historic 25th Grand Slam title at the US Open, edging closer to surpassing Margaret Court’s record. Arriving in New York with limited hard-court play since March, the Serbian legend knew the early rounds would be a challenge—a prediction that proved accurate in his second-round match against compatriot Laslo Djere.

Djere, who had previously pushed Djokovic to five sets in last year’s tournament, once again posed a significant challenge. “Overall it was a big fight, over two hours for two sets.

“I served awfully, playing without a serve you have to grind, you have to run.

“I’m just trying to push the bar for the young guys.”
