GOOD NEWS : The decision to end our partnership was a difficult one, but it was also a necessary one….
In the aftermath of his surprise split from tennis superstar Iga Swiatek, coach Tomasz Wiktorowski has finally broken his silence, offering a measured and thoughtful response to the sudden end of their successful partnership.
Speaking to reporters, Wiktorowski emphasized that the decision to part ways had not been made lightly or impulsively, but rather was the result of careful deliberation and consideration.
“We have never made sudden, ill-considered decisions,” Wiktorowski said.
“The decision to end our partnership was a difficult one, but it was also a necessary one.”
In explaining the rationale behind the decision, Wiktorowski was careful to avoid any negative commentary about his former pupil, instead focusing on the broader forces and circumstances that had contributed to their split.
“Iga is a tremendous athlete, a fierce competitor, and a dedicated student of the game,” he said.
“But sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, the chemistry between a coach and a player can shift over time. It’s not about any one person’s fault; it’s simply about recognizing that the partnership may have run its course.”
For Swiatek and Wiktorowski, the split marks the end of a successful run that saw the Polish player rise from promising up-and-comer to world-beating champion, with multiple Grand Slam titles and a number one ranking to her name.
Despite the undeniable success of their partnership, Wiktorowski stressed that the decision to part ways had not been motivated by any sense of dissatisfaction or disappointment, but rather by a recognition that both Swiatek and himself needed to explore new avenues for growth and development.
