I saw that Iga Świątek and Carlos Alcaraz were there. We all wanted to get a glimpse of the atmosphere; it was a unique moment that could have been his last,” Novak Djokovic said at his press conference after his match. The Serbian was asked about his presence in the stands during Rafael Nadal’s match against Alexander Zverev.

Nadal’s match with the German drew significant attention. The Spaniard’s return to Roland Garros was a big moment for the tennis community. Although Nadal lost (3-6, 6-7(5), 3-6), he had his chances.

Djokovic Praises Nadal’s Form “I think he played really well compared to what we saw in Rome. He showed a much higher level of form. Even though he lost in three sets, the second and third could have gone either way. He could have won one of those sets, and then the match could have taken a completely different direction,” Djokovic said at the press conference.

“Rafa was unlucky with the draw, facing Zverev, who’s in great form, as he showed in Rome. It’s tough to beat him when he’s feeling the ball so well,” the Serbian added.

A Significant Moment for World Tennis “Regardless, it was wonderful to watch him. I can’t remember the last time I saw a match live at this level, aside from Davis Cup matches. It was amazing. I noticed that Iga Świątek and Carlos Alcaraz were there too. We all wanted to experience the atmosphere; it was a special moment that might have been his last. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem that way,” Djokovic concluded.
