Kids may not be hunting for Easter eggs until Sunday, but Taylor Swift fans are forever on the lookout. The fandom’s latest find were two tiny references on Travis Kelce’s hat during his recent golf outing.
On Thursday, March 28, former NBA star Chandler Parsons shared a video from his golf outing with Kelce via his Instagram Story. Not only was there an overt reference to Swift — Parsons was blasting “Bad Blood,” to which Kelce responded by using the golf club as an air guitar and doing a body roll to her hit — but also two subtle reminders as well.
After Kelce hit the ball, he got up close and personal with the camera, lip-syncing to “Bad Blood” while showing off his Sherwood Thousand Oaks Country Club cap, which featured both the year 1989 (also the name of Swift’s 2014 album and the year she was born) and an embroidered archer (reminiscent of “The Archer” off of 2018’s Lover.)
“Travis is never beating the 1989 stan allegations,” one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter). “Travis listening to 1989 while wearing a hat that says 1989,” another person shared. “Travis’s friends saw him strollin in with 1989 on his hat and thought playing his fav album would distract him?” one fan quipped. “Oh they dont know the tayvoodoo.”
Kelce, for his part, has steadily documented his love for Swift’s music. Whether it’s color-coordinating in post-game 1989-themed ensembles, making a reference to Reputation’s “…Ready For It?” at the Super Bowl in February, or just simply singing along to any number of her hits — like he once again did with “Bad Blood” on a recent episode of his New Heights podcast —the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has proved time and time again he is down bad for his girlfriend’s hits.
Luckily for Kelce, he is also one of the few people who has heard a sneak peek of Swift’s upcoming release, The Tortured Poets Department, which drops next month.
“I have heard some of it, yes, and it is unbelievable,” the athlete shared during a February press conference. “I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops.”
While the two have been strong supporters of each others’ careers, Swift and Kelce have also taken time to themselves after a whirlwind football season and the Grammy winner’s wildly successful Eras tour. The pair just got back from a tropical vacation in the Bahamas, where they were photographed kissing and relaxing last week.
